Vít Kopřiva became the champion of the Prostějov UniCredit Czech Open. The 24-year-old Czech defeated five years younger Dalibor Svrčina in the biggest final of his career. After five triumphs on the lower ITF tour, he celebrates his first challenger title. Although Kopřiva has already appeared in a semifinal and twice in the third round on the ATP tour, he did not manage to win a Challenger title until now. He has already appeared in the semi-finals four times, in quarter-finals many times, but he has only made it to the final for the first time this week in Prostějov.

UniCredit Bank Czech Republic and Slovakia has returned to the position of title partner after four years and it is a great comeback. "We operate on both the Czech and Slovak markets. From this perspective, we were happy to see the Czech-Slovak federal derby in the semi-finals. Then, the finalists even exceeded our expectations. We are happy to be back even though we left the tournament for some time a few years ago.

Czech tennis has won a total of eleven titles in the history of Prostějov Challenger: by triple champions Radek Štěpánek (2003, 2004 and 2013), Jan Hájek (2006, 2009 and 2010) and Jiří Veselý (2014, 2015 and 2017), and the double champion Bohdan Ulihrach (1997, 2001). The last Czech winner was Jiří Veselý in 2017. This year another Czech name will be added to the tournament statistics and become the twelfth Czech champion. It will be decided between two home players representing TK AGROFERT Prostějov: Dalibor Svrčina and Vít Kopřiva.

UniCredit Czech Open will have a Czech champion in five years! Following Dalibor Svrčina’s success, Vít Kopřiva also advanced to the final. He clashed with Horanský and defeated the Slovak player in three sets. This will be the fifth strictly Czech final in Prostějov: Ulihrach played Novák in 2001, Štěpánek faced Tabara in 2004, Hájek clashed with Štěpánek in 2010 and Štěpánek met Veselý in 2013.

Tournament director Petra Černošková was very relieved after the first semifinal match as she wished Czech tennis would be represented in the final. She did not dare to think that a Czech player would lift the champion trophy after five years like Jiří Veselý did in 2017 for the last time. Dalibor Svrčina made the tournament director's wish come true and advanced to the final after beating Lukáš Klein of Slovakia in a great match. He won the first set thanks to a masterful finish and then dominated the court. He will appear in a challenger final for the second time this season.
