Kopřiva eventually advanced, but had to fight hard against the qualifier Comesana to deserve a place in the next round.
In the decisive third set, Kopřiva broke the opponent’s serve at 1:1 and kept his lead. "The third game of the last set was key to victory. In the end my opponent gave me a few points for free, which made the ending a bit easier. It was otherwise a close match," said Kopřiva when evaluating the match and confirming that contemporary tennis was level. "Comesana is a typical product of the Argentine school. He is young, ambitious and wants to go up. My patience paid off. When playing longer rallies, he made a mistake from time to time. I'm happy to be through because I haven't played well lately. It wasn't an ideal performance yet, but it played better than the previous weeks," said Kopřiva.
