Miroslav Černošek: “The project is about money, relationships, and hard work.“

06.06.2015 13:42:50 | "In brief, the project is about money, relationships, and hard work. I and Petra take care of the relationships and work, our colleagues and tournament partners Jiří Kunert and Ivo Kaderka deal with the money and financial support.

"I can promise on behalf of the two of us that we’ll do our best to your satisfaction and to keep the great quality of our tournament. We’d like to express our gratitude to everybody for their generous support of our tournament. I’d like to thank the crowd which kept coming in great numbers from the first day. It’s a pity that Radek Štěpánek was already ousted in the first round because he’s always been very popular with the crowd.“ said Miroslav Černošek.

Journalists received a negative answer to the usual question whether the prize money of the tournament would be increased. “We have been in agreement with the general manager for a couple of years that the prize money shouldn’t be increased. In our opinion, a tournament of higher category is not appropriate for the Czech Republic. We wouldn’t have enough players and would really be waste of money. Let alone our tournament often comes out well in comparison with the tournaments of higher category,“ said Petra Černošková. “We made an exception and started a new project of WTA tournament in Prague. But the reason for it was that we had eight women players in the top hundred and three very close. Eventually, we had six Czech women players in the quarter-finals. Tomas Berdych is a top ten player and that is why he cannot participate in our tournament, Radek Štěpánek is almost thirty seven. The category of our tournament is sufficient for Adam Pavlásek, it’s just perfect for him. Talking about the Czech players, I have to point out that it was greatly disappointing for us that Lukáš Rosol didn’t play in Prostějov. We had certain agreements which were not satisfied,“ said Miroslav Černošek. “Everybody really helped UniCredit Czech Open to keep the high organizational standard. I don’t want to think about the future of our tournament now. We have really given up discussing the possible promotion to a higher category. We will, in cooperation with our partners, continue to do what we’ve done for years and what we’ve been so successful at.“
