Vít Kopřiva Reaches His First Final

03.06.2022 15:53:54 | UniCredit Czech Open will have a Czech champion in five years! Following Dalibor Svrčina’s success, Vít Kopřiva also advanced to the final. He clashed with Horanský and defeated the Slovak player in three sets. This will be the fifth strictly Czech final in Prostějov: Ulihrach played Novák in 2001, Štěpánek faced Tabara in 2004, Hájek clashed with Štěpánek in 2010 and Štěpánek met Veselý in 2013.

In the second semi-final match, the Czech player decisively lost the first set in which he only won a single game. He then managed to resist the opponent and his persistence won him the decisive set in the end. The final set was most intense as both tennis players fought hard for every ball. The key moment came in the eighth game: Kopřiva broke Horanský's serve and then confirmed the break immediately afterwards and  rejoiced at his passage to the final.
"I didn’t play well in the first set at all. My legs were not there and I couldn't feel the balls. It only changed at the beginning of the second set: I broke Filip's serve for the first time and started to feel better," said Kopřiva when describing the difficult moments of the match. "I kept fighting and literary grabbed the win. There is no better way of saying it," said the winner.
Kopřiva has reached his first challenger final in his career. "It’s finally happened. This is a very special moment for me as it is happening in Prostějov where I live. Moreover, the fact that I will play Dalibor in the final is absolutely amazing," said Vít Kopřiva.
