Veselý Loses, the Last Czech is Knocked Out
06.06.2018 19:46:04 | Jiří Veselý’s effort to retain the Czech tennis in the tournament took exactly 140 minutes. The Czech player entered the match against Ymer as a confident favourite. However, the Swede returned the balls like a tennis wall and it did not matter to him that he lost his first serve. Veselý saved his serve and the score was 2:0. Ymer then won six games in a row to 6:2! The longer they played, the more confident Ymer was and the more helpless Veselý became.

Thomas Johansson and the Prostějov native Jiří Novák, the semi-finalists of Australian Open 2002, will appear on the Centre Court on Saturday, June 9, an hour before the final of MONETA Czech Open. Spaniard Munar Opens the Closed Door to the Quarter Final
06.06.2018 16:47:00 | Jaume Munar of Spain was losing 2:5 in the match against Pavlásek and it seemed that he would complete his mission at MONETA Czech Open, see the transportation agent and arrange his transfer to the airport. Then, Czech player was even leading 5:3 and 30:15 on his serve, but Munar fought back fiercely. Pavlásek’s first serve did not work well and Munar turned the match around.

Adam Pavlásek Wastes his Chance to Advance to Quarter Finals
06.06.2018 16:04:06 | Adam Pavlásek battled for the quarter final with tenacious Jaume Munar for almost three hours. It seemed that the Czech would follow the same recipe like on Tuesday when he frustrated the second seeded Uruguayan Cuevas by his level-headed game. He broke the Spaniard’s serve at 2:2 and then took the lead to 4:2. However, Munar turned the match around in three games to 5:4 and Pavlásek had to level up to 5:5. He broke the Spaniard’s serve again and so did Muran– 6:6. Pavlásek eventually won the tiebreak like he had previously always done at MONETA Czech Open.

Satisfied Melzer: The Tennis Facility is Great
06.06.2018 13:33:58 | Gerald Melzer of Austria gave his opponent almost no chance in today’s match and advanced to the quarter final with ease. “Well, the result suggests it was easy, but it was actually much more difficult than it seems. We played many long and tight games particularly in the first set. I faced many breakpoints and had to save my serve. However, I managed to win important points today. It was a tough match and I didn’t give my opponent many easy points. I think he could feel that pressure.“
