Before this year’s Roland Garros, there were three tournaments of higher level in which the prize money were five times as much as ours here in Prostejov. In Bucharest, Rosol played Garcia-Lopéz. Both appeared in our UniCredit Czech Open. Montanes played Monfiels in the finals in Nice. Montanes was in Prostejov and the latter asked us for a free card in case he falls with Berdych in the first round in Paris.
The Düsseldorf tournament finals saw Monaco vs. Nieminen. We also had Nieminen here. For your information – the eighth-seeded player in Nice and Düsseldorfu had a lower ranking than the eighth seed at our tournament. Let me conclude with yet another number: twenty eight players who appeared here in the singles had participated in the main contest of Roland Garros in Paris. That’s really a very nice number. I’d like to thank to Jiri Kunert for his continuous support, as well as to Ivo Kaderka and, of course, to Petra Langrova, the Tournament Director. Those are nice stories that are being written on the local courts and today’s finals are really like a dream. It’s a story of a gradually leaving star and a rising star. We’ll see which star will shine brighter.“
