Young Czechs Got a Chance

29.05.2016 17:27:13 | How successful were young Czechs in the qualification? Jakub Novák lost to the top seed Souza of Brazil, Matěj Vocel was defeated by another Brazilian Demoliner, Vít Kopřiva succumbed to the former Wimbledon junior winner Marton Fucsovics of Hungary. Štěpán Holiš lost to Aldin Šetkić of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Daniel Orlita was ousted by Juan Londer of Argentina. Tomáš Papík was the only Czech player who made it through to the second qualification round in which he lost to the fourth seeded Dmitry Popek of Kazakhstan.

“I’m glad that all qualification wild cards were given to young Czech players, their appearance in the qualification of the tournament of this category has been a great experience for them. All of them showed a performance close to their limits. Their appearance in such a tournament should motivate them in their further work,” said Jaroslav Balaš, the sports director of the Czech Tennis Association.
