Tomas Macháč Hasn't Lost a Set in Prostějov Yet

08.06.2023 20:23:46 | Thursday’s quarter-final matches saw two home players advance to the semi-finals. Dalibor Svrčina defeated Jakub Menšík in two sets, Jiří Lehečka did not confirm his role as a favourite against Lukáš Klein of Slovakia and lost to him in two sets. Tomáš Macháč (127th ATP) was the last player to appear in the quarter-finals. He goes on without losing a set and is in an excellent form in Prostějov.

The fifth seed won his third match in the main draw. In the quarter-finals he defeated Argentine clay court specialist Roman Andres Burruchaga (251st ATP) without losing a single set again. The first set was not going the way the Czech favourite desired for long: he was losing 2:4 and then 3:5 after getting his serve broken for the second time. However, he always managed to re-break his opponent and closed the opening set by winning four games in a row. In the second set, Macháč did not lose his serve once, broke the Argentine’s twice and brought the match to a winning end. "I didn't play well at all and made a lot of mistakes today. I'm glad I still made it. I better appreciate the victory over my performance. Winning a match when your game is not great is very valuable. I struggled in the first set, but played a bit better in the second one," Macháč said.

What about Friday's programme? The Centre Court will see the semi-final match of Dalibor Svrčina vs. Lukáš Klein at 11:00 a.m. They will be followed by Tomáš Macháč vs. Francisco Comesana. The doubles final will feature Ariel Behar (Uruguay), Adam Pavlásek vs. Marco Bortolotti (Italy), Sergio Martos Gornes (Spain).
